In 2007, a study was conducted with:
- Children fed an assigned diet containing DHA and ARA and
- Children who were put on a control diet not fortified with DHA and ARA.
These groups were then measured on visual and cognitive outcomes at 4 years of age.
It was found that at 4 years, the control group had poorer visual acuity and lower IQ scores than the assigned group.
